On Sunday September 13, 2009 Joshua turned 18 months old. He is getting so big. One major thing that has happened since he is 18 months is that he is "official" in nursery. I am so excited. It has been getting really hard to entertain him in church, but now he gets to play with other children and I can focus on my calling as the Education Counselor in the Relief Society.
This afternoon was his well-check. He is 23lbs and 2oz (15%), 31 1/2 inches long (25%), his head is 48 1/4 cm (70%). He is getting to be such a big boy. He had two shots that made him cry.
Things he can do at 18 months old:
Daily Activities:
- Begins to eat with a folk-
-Enjoys imitating parents- (also Matthew and Ashleigh)
Motor Skills:
-Walk proficiently-
-Enjoys pushing and pulling toys while walking
-Runs awkwardly and falls a lot
-Walks backward a short distance
Cognitive Development (thinking & Learning)
-Understands that something can exist even when hidden
-Can picture objects and events mentally
Language Development
-Speaks from 3 to 50 words
-Wants to name everything
-May use a few two-word combinations
-Repeats familiar and unfamiliar sounds and getures
Emotional & Behavioral Development:
-May begin to show frustration when not understood
-May show strong attachment to a toy or blanket
-May respond with "no" constantly
-Like to show some independence (feed self, undresses self)
-Begins to develop a self-concept
-Responds to simple requests ("bring me your book")
It is hard to believe that he was such a small baby 18 months ago, but he has grown so much and has so much personality. He loves his brother and sister. He is such a happy little guy. We all love you Joshua. Thank you for chosing to come to our family when you did, life would not be the same without you.

I can't wait for Dallin to go to nursery. I think he will start going in December... it will be so nice. Congratulations on getting something out of church for the last 2 hours.
